Family Fun Music Challenge: With your family watch a musical/concert or live performance online. Many artists and musical organizations, including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, are doing online live stream concerts, or releasing past performances. Click here for the DSO classroom concerts for kids. Google your own favorite!

Learning Focus: Comparing different musical performances.
Learning Activities: “Three Little Birds- wk 2”
1.Reveiw last week's song and sing with the lyrics.
2. Review last week's rhythm patterns and try to clap each pattern while you sing the song. Have a family member join you and see if you can pay 2 or 3 rhythm parts together.
3. Watch the link provided or google your own, to compare the performances with the original song. What did the performers change to make the song unique?
Family Fun Music Challenge: Think about your favorite song (or songs) that we have learned already in music. (This year or a previous one.) Then teach that song to a family member. Maybe try a music game or movement activity together! For more fun video chat with a family member and teach them too!

2. Follow the instructions on the rhythm reading link and read/play the rhythms.
3. Listen and sing along to the Three Little Birds picture book.
4. Go for a walk and count how many birds you see.
Family Fun Music Challenge: Using the ‘play along percussion’ link, use items you can find in your house to make your own ensemble! With your family, take turns playing the different parts. Or play each part by yourself. Have fun!

Winchester Elementary School - Third Grade Music Program - “I CAN SING A RAINBOW”
The 3rd grade music program will be performed Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. in our Multi-purpose room with a school performance that same day at 2:30 p.m. Students should report to their classrooms no earlier than 6:15 p.m. that evening.
3/14/2020: A DECISION WILL BE MADE AS TO WHEN THE CONCERT WILL BE SCHEDULED
Students will musically explore the colors of the rainbow through singing, playing instruments and movement. Concert dress is simple: have your child wear jean pants, shorts or skirts and a plain white t-shirt (no print). The music department will provide colorful bandannas for each child. Each child will be featured in a special role; either as an instrumentalist, singing in a duet or with a small group of singers, movement or sign-holder.
