Mrs. Mac-Smith has loved to make music since she was a child.
She started piano lessons in middle school, joined choir in high school, and decided to become a music teacher.
Her undergraduate degrees in Music Education & Voice are from Wayne State University.
It was there she met her husband, Roger Smith: he was studying to become a band and orchestra teacher. Roger retired from his position as the Principal of Ferndale High School in 2017: he now works for his brother-in-law at AMAC Pharmacy:)
The Mac-Smith's have been married since 1982!
They have 2 talented sons. Gordon is a free-lance musician and recording producer: he just got a job as an assistant to one of Disney's composers! Gordon and his wife Allison touring with 3 different bands: Jessica Hernandez & the Deltas, Peach Kelly Pop and their own band - The Kickstand Band. Gordison (a combination of Gordon and Allison) also have a black cat named Rhonda:)
Gregory moved to L.A. after getting a degree in Film-making at U of M. He works for Second City and Upright Citizens Brigade as a performer, a pianist and a teacher. He is also part of a group called "Story Pirates": they travel to schools and act out kids' stories! He has been seen in commercials, in TV shows and on James Corden's Crosswalk Musical interpretation of Hair. His goal is to make a living performing and writing comedy.
Mrs. Mac-Smith started working in Northville Schools in 2003 and has worked with students at Winchester and Thornton Creek schools. She received her Masters in Music Education from Oakland University in 2012.
During the summer months, she works as an accompanist for the Town Hall show at Greenfield Village & has also sung for their "Holiday Nights".
Her hobbies include reading, traveling, making music, watching movies, knitting, playing on a golf league with her hubby and continuously learning!
She has an awesome Labradoodle named "Obi-wan Kenobi"!
She thinks the Dragons are some of the greatest kids ever and loves her work!
She hopes they will remember their music time in her class with a smile and that they will ...
