Family Fun Music Challenge: With your family watch a musical/concert or live performance online. Many artists and musical organizations, including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, are doing online live stream concerts, or releasing past performances. Click here for the DSO classroom concerts for kids. Google your own favorite!

Singing Tonal Patterns
When the Saints/I Wanna Sing/Swing Low Sweet Chariot
Learning Focus: Singing dominant tonal patterns & Singing one of three partner songs.
Learning Activities:
1. Video 1: watch the tonal pattern video. Sing through each pattern with correct syllables.
b) try and guess what each pattern is as it is played without syllables.
c) Then sing through each one on our own.
2) Video 2: Sing through the first two partner songs. Listen and try the third song.
b) sing through all three songs in a row.
c) try and sing the songs in a different order than the piano..
Family Fun Music Challenge:
Using the ‘play along percussion’ link, use items you can find in your house to make your own ensemble! With your family, take turns playing the different parts. Or play each part by yourself. Have fun!
Time Frame: 15 - 40 minutes

ACTIVITIES: Major Tonal Pattern Practice
1. Major tonal patterns - instructions are narrated throughout the video.
a) Echo each pattern
b) Figure out which pattern is being played.
